Advantage® II

Advantage II eliminates fleas and lice and now offers better protection for your dog. A highly effective pest treatment, the formula is for dogs and puppies older than 7 weeks and weighing over 55 lbs. Advantage II is also safe and will not harm pregnant or nursing dogs.

This flea control product eliminates fleas at all of their life stages. The fast-acting formula imidacloprid will kill fleas within 12 hours and re-infesting fleas within 2 hours.

Advantage II eliminates fleas and lice by killing their eggs and larvae completely with an integrated flea control (IFC) solution. Using properties like adulticidal, larvicidal, and ovicidal, the new and improved Advantage II formula inhibits flea growth. Specifically targeting insects, pyriproxyfen uses hormone signaling to stop insects from developing during their maturity cycle.

Q1: How long does it take to kill all fleas after first application on an animal that has fleas?

A: 24 hours to zero fleas counted.

Q2: Does it kill ticks as well as fleas?

A: No, there is no tick activity at all. This product is highly specific for fleas.

Q3: Activity against parasites other than fleas and ticks?

A: Fleas only.

Q4: How long does a single application last?

A: One month.

Q5: How soon after bathing can it be applied?

A: As soon as the pet is dry.

Q6: Does it wash off?

A: Yes - this product will be washed off completely with a degreasing shampoo. It can withstand one bath between applications and swimming once a week between applications but no more.

A: No, this is an insecticide, not a drug, but the manufacturer sells its product for resale only through veterinarians so that proper usage etc. can be explained.

Q11: Is the product safe for use on sick, elderly or debilitated patients?

A: Product should be safe for such use provided the patient is receiving veterinary care. Otherwise, if the pet is inactive or hospitalized in a cage, the product may not spread around the body as rapidly as usual.
